Dr. Alka Kalra is an award-winning Psychologist and a CDA licensed Psychometrician, who was one of the first Indian Psychologist in the Middle East in the early 1990’s. She received the Women of the Year Award from International Women’s Association in 2005 and in 2016 she was honored with the Top 100 Indian Women Entrepreneur Award, Middle East and Africa.
Dr. Alka was a versatile student and had the honor of receiving the All India Best Cadet award by the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1982. She is certified Psychotherapist, Career Counsellor, Humanitarian, and Philanthropist
She founded the Eduscan Institute in 1994 providing leadership training to school-goers, education to children of determination, training programs for educators in addition to psychometric testing for the last 29 years in the UAE. More than 28,000 children have benefited by the institute since its inception.
She introduced a new concept for schools called SAIMO (Screen, Assess, Intervene & Monitor Outcome) to ensure students with hidden difficulties have measurable benefits.
She is trained and certified in RECBT, CBT, TA-CDT, and MI. She has an international certification and accreditation by the Academy of Orton- Gillingham Practitioners & Educators. She is an accredited practitioner of Dyslexia Correction for Lifetime by Ron Davis Association and has undergone intensive training on Hidden Learning Difficulties by the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre Surrey, UK and on Treating Attention Deficit Disorder by Jean Robb & Hilary Letts of Successful Learning, UK. She is trained and certified in Assessment for Learning & Assessment of Learning and Differentiation in the Class Room by Klays Consulting, UK. She is also a licensed Parenting expert from Feeling Minds.
Dr. Alka Kalra, has travelled extensively across the world conducting multiple trainings and workshops on Social Emotional learning, Enhancing Emotional Intelligence, Effective Parenting, Mindfulness and Understanding Anxiety Disorder to name a few. Besides appearing on webinars she has also served as a panelist on a number of occasions such as the inaugural Men's Mental Health Forum in India and at the World Mental Health Day in the UAE.
Dr. Alka conducted over 100 webinars and workshops both nationally and internationally for healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic to help them manage anxiety, depression and high psychological stress.
In 2020 she received an appreciation Award from EdX and QNA Marcom for her extraordinary work in the education sector in the UAE. In 2021 for her contribution to society, on emotional & mental health during the COVID 19 pandemic, Dr. Alka earned the Healthcare Crisis Management Award as well as the Dubai KMCC Vibrant Heroes Award in 2022 for her distinguished and dedicated volunteering service.
In 2023, recognized for her excellence in philanthropy, Dr. Alka recieved the Best Social Worker award at the iconic Museum of the Future, Dubai under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum.
In 2024, she was honored with the Top 50 Global Inspirational Women Entrepreneur award at the Khatoonpreneur Expo in Dubai, recognizing her exceptional leadership and innovation in entrepreneurship. Additionally, she received the Global Titan of Transformative Knowledge Award at the International Conference on Sustainability, Waste Management, and Environment, celebrating her significant contributions to sustainable development and transformative knowledge dissemination.
